Managing Billing Charges and Customizing Rates in ShopView
ShopView provides flexible options for managing billing charges and customizing rates for your customers. This guide explains how to handle credit card processing fees and assign specific labor rates to individual customers.
Overview of Billing and Charges
ShopView's billing system allows you to manage various charges, including credit card processing fees and labor rates. While some charges apply universally, others can be customized for specific customers to meet their unique needs.
Payment Methods and Fees
Credit Card Processing Fees
Credit card processing fees in ShopView are applied universally for payments made through the Customer Portal using ShopPay. Unfortunately, it is not possible to waive or disable these fees for specific customers while keeping them enabled for others. If you wish to avoid charging certain customers this fee, you can request that they use alternative payment methods outside of ShopPay or the Customer Portal.

Assigning Specific Labor Rates to Customers
ShopView allows you to assign unique labor rates to individual customers. Follow these steps to set up and assign a specific labor rate:
Create the Labor Rate: - Navigate to Administration (gear icon) → Labor Rates → New Labor Rate. - Name the rate and set the desired amount (e.g., "Fleet Rate"). You can create multiple rates as needed.
Assign the Rate to a Customer: - Go to Customers → Open the customer profile → Click Edit. - Locate the Default Labor Rate dropdown, select the rate you created, and save your changes.
Once assigned, any new labor lines added to that customer’s work orders will automatically use the specified rate instead of the shop default.
FAQs and Troubleshooting
Can I apply different credit card processing fees to different customers? No, credit card processing fees are applied universally for payments through the Customer Portal.
What happens if I don’t assign a labor rate to a customer? If no specific labor rate is assigned, the shop default rate will be used for that customer’s work orders.
